Looking for emerging Hispanic Directors to direct in Spanish.

THE 411:
Repertorio Español, the nation’s pre-eminent Spanish language theater, is proud to announce the return of The Edward and Sally Van Lier Fellowship for Directors 2010. A fellowship designed to give emerging Hispanic directors living in New York City an opportunity to mount a professional theater production at Repertorio Español.

Each production is given a modest budget and a limited run. Three directors will be chosen to work on two productions each, one of their own choosing and one chosen in concert with the Theatre. Projects will begin Summer of 2010.

The Fellowship is funded by The New York Community Trust.

THE REQUIREMENTS:
•Be a resident of New York City and 30 years old or younger.
•Must be a graduate of a B.A. or M.F.A. program in dramatic arts.
•Have an integral knowledge of Classical Spanish theatre, contemporary Latin American and Hispanic-American playwrights.

THE BENEFITS:
•Direct two separate projects in Spanish at Repertorio Español
•Be given a small budget to cover all production costs
•Cast and oversee all production matters
•Make artistic decisions as related to costs
•Work within the parameters of the theatre
•Have 3 – 4 performances of each production at Repertorio Español
•Use of the theatre for auditions and rehearsals (as schedule permits)
•Receive mentoring from Repertorio’s artistic and administrative leadership as well as guidance from the theatre’s professional staff

THE GUIDELINES:
Interested directors must submit the following:
•Completed application form

•Short Biography (200 word maximum)
•Artistic résume with two references

THE TIMELINE:
•Applications are due Thursday, April 1st, 2010
•Firs round of projects will take place during the Summer of 2010
